Rahr's Blonde Lager

Rahr's Blonde Lager was the first beer to come out of Rahr & Sons Brewing Company. It is a medium-bodied traditional Munich Helles-style pale lager that features a rounded maltiness without being too heavy. And like every proud Texan, it has a good head, is pleasant – but not overly sweet.

Recipe Information:

Style: Munich Helles
Alcohol By Volume: 4.8%
International Bitterness Units: 22
Color: Pale Gold
Hops: Magnum, Sterling
Malts: 2 Row, Munich, CaraFoam
Tasting Notes: Light Malty Sweetness, Bready, Restrained Bitterness

Serving Suggestions:

Preferred Glass: Pilsner
Preferred Serving Temperature: 40º
Food Pairings: Experts like to pair this beer with seafood and pork. Now, the folks at Rahr & Sons aren’t the kind to argue with experts, but we think our Blonde Lager also tastes pretty darn good with a pile of hot wings after a long day in the brewhouse.
Cheese Pairings: Gouda, Swiss

Recognition:

US Open Beer Championship: Bronze Medal (2009)
Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition: Bronze Medal (2009)
United States Beer Tasting Championships: Best of the Southwest/Rockies (2005, 2006, 2009)

Daggum them boys thar at Rahrs know how to make some good brews! I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying this fine brew from the bottle and right from the tap there at the brewery! Golden amber in color with a hearty foamy head that dissipated quickly to a thin sheen and somewhat good lacing. Aromas of sweet malts, orange zest, maybe a little bit of lemon. Light- to somewhat medium-bodied, with a silkly smooth texture. Good sweet malts and just the right amount of hearty bite from the hops to make for a well-balanced white beer! Seems like a touch of lemon-grass in there too. Long-lingering malty-sweet finish but nothing overbearing. Just the right amount of carbonation in there too. The finish is so crisp and clean! Pair this up with some smoked gouda cheese or perhaps some smoked fish or grilled shrimp Cajun-style! Heck I’m thinking of some hearty new england clam-chowder with this Texas brew!

This is my new favorite beer!
I saw the owner on Good Morning Texas last week and had never tried the beer before. The next day I went to one of my favorite restaurants in Rockwall and they had this beer, I tried it and fell in love with it. I cant wait to come visit the brewery.

It feels great to be a supporter of a local brewery!

This has become my favorite beer. I'm actually having one now while sitting by the pool. There's a party tomorrow and i'll take extra to pass around, as i'm always asked about it.

I was in Dallas this weekend and tried Rahr Blonde for the first time! It was excellent! I wish there was a way to buy it in Arkansas.
